About Kirsty
I’m a British artist creating textured, layered paintings inspired by the movement and forms found in nature. My work focuses on depth and structure, building surface and dimension before introducing colour.
Creativity runs through my family. My grandfather was an artist, and his influence continues to shape the way I approach painting today. For me, art feels instinctive – something that has always been part of who I am.
Roots & Influence
I was born in Leicestershire and now live and work in Yorkshire. That journey between places has naturally become part of my visual language. Subtle references to the foxglove and the rose appear throughout my work – quiet symbols of heritage, growth, and the landscape I now call home.
As a mother to a young daughter with a creative spirit of her own, I’m constantly reminded of the importance of imagination and self-expression. That sense of continuity – between generations, places, and ideas – underpins each canvas I create.
The Studio
I work from a renovated barn studio in rural Yorkshire, surrounded by open fields and shifting light. The space offers both focus and perspective – somewhere to think, experiment, and gradually develop each piece.
The textures of the landscape and the rhythm of the seasons subtly influence my palette and compositions, grounding the work in the environment where it’s created.
The Process
Each painting begins with the development of a sculptural foundation directly onto the canvas, creating movement and structure across the surface. This initial layer establishes depth before colour is introduced.
Colour is then built gradually, responding to the raised forms beneath. Layers are worked, adjusted, and refined, allowing light and texture to interact naturally. The result is a contemporary composition that balances intention with organic flow.

To keep your artwork looking its best, avoid placing it in direct sunlight or areas of high humidity. A light dust with a soft, dry cloth is all that’s needed to maintain the surface.
